Southern Saudade: A Supernatural Southern Gothic Collection
by Bob McGough, Bob McGough
I'm a sucker for short stories, especially melancholy ones. It's hard to choose, but I think "A Whiter Shade of Pale" is probably my favorite. Perhaps because I was reading it on a long drive, just as the main character started his own long drive. I wished "Midnight in Starshine" was longer. I wasn't ready to leave the motel, even if it was for the best.
Bob has an impeccable talent of writing a distinct voice for his narrators. I'm gonna think about Anna, all the Annas, for weeks to come.
The experience is only sweetened by author's notes and playlists accompanying each story.
