Suddenly a Murder
by Lauren Muñoz
While definitely leaning into its 'YA Knives Out' premise a little too much at times, this is a skillfully plotted mystery with morally murky yet rootable characters, a cool setting, and a Christie-esque plot, all while finding the time to touch on race, gender, sexuality, Mexican-American identity, and power dynamics in relationships, all while throwing in romance, genuinely surprising plot twists, and one of the best new characters I've seen in YA in a while (and who if Muño is reading this, DESERVES A SPIN OFF PLEASE AND THANK YOU).
