I always dread second books in a trilogy, but Lu has managed to keep the intensity going with Prodigy. Once I started the book I didn't want to put it down, and I realized I liked it better than Legend by the end. Unfortunately I had to at times, but it kept gnawing at me to pick it back up and keep reading. I had felt like the Republic was similar in many ways to North Korea, and this book further cemented my thoughts on that front. What really strikes me with this series is how it can easily take my emotions on a rollercoaster ride. I go from happy to dread, to brimming with hope, and then sadness. Lu does such a good job of making sure the reader stays connected with Day and June, and effortlessly jumps between their perspectives without skipping a beat. Bring own the third and final book, Champion. My body is ready! 5 out of 5.
