Stalenhag's work is inspired by a love of the 1990s and questions about what could've been if our recent past went in a different direction; if things we've forgotten about in the 2020s actually happened, and what the ramifications might've been. His strength is definitely in world-building and artwork; his skills as a writer are not as strong, unfortunately, as the writing at times distracted from the rest of the experience of the book.
