This was the perfect time for me to find this book.

The MCU movies, which I love dearly, are the only exposure I’ve had to Marvel. I’ve never been interested in picking up a comic until I visited NYCC for the first time this past year. Going in blindly I picked out three $1 comics, one Avengers and two Spider-Man. Having no knowledge of the comics, I had to get my inside scoop from TikTokers or podcasters when a new movie or tv show came out. I love hearing people talk about their theories but I felt rather out of the loop and wanted to come inside so badly. THIS book helped me do that.

I don’t see myself becoming a comic book reader after reading this book. But I do feel like I have a guide to picking out a story I would like. Or discovering storylines of characters featured in a new show/movie. I even found out that those random comics I picked out at NYCC are written by authors I had flagged in this book to check out (win!). Douglas Wolk thank you for reading EVERY MARVEL COMIC EVER so I didn’t have to. And for writing something I enjoyed so much and found so useful.
