Delirium was an interesting book. The whole idea of love being a disease that needed to be cured, was a really neat idea. Could you imagine growing up being told to be fearful of the very thing that makes life worth living?

Lena was the very embodiment of this idea. She knew nothing but what she had been taught all her life. Which really is quite terrifying if you think about it, aren't we all like that in a sense? We start life a blank slate, we then grow and learn from other people and our environment what things are wrong, or what things are right, which things are good, which things are bad. So really this world Lauren Oliver has created isn't so outrageous to me, and that is frightening!! To grow up not even realizing you are a prisoner, living a hallow life. How sad to even imagine it!

While I loved the whole idea of this book, some parts seemed to drag along at times. I found myself skimming through a few pages here and there because some of the stuff just felt unnecessary. I wanted to get to the good parts!! Some of the plot twists were fairly obvious, but I still found the story as a whole to be enjoyable. It was the first book in a series, so I'm hoping in the books to come that there is a little more action. I think this was a pretty good start though and I really love the whole world Lauren Oliver has created and I think things are going to get a lot more interesting in the next book! The end was so cliffhangery!! I want to see what happened to everyone!! And of course I'm wait listed at the library for the next books. *sigh*
