Coast
by Jay McLean

**You will need to have read Kick Push before reading Coast**
Kick Push was one of my top reads of 2015. No, not just 2015, one of my favourite books of all time.
So Coast had some mighty big skate shoes to fill.
And fill them they did.
It has been a couple of days since I finished reading Coast, and I still don't know how to put into words how I feel and to to this book justice.
I was nervouse to find out what would happen to Josh and Becca and the heartbreak kid Tommy after the way Kick Push ended, so while I wanted to dive into Coast, I needed to steel my heart for what I was about to read.
I ran the full gamut of emotions whilst reading Coast. I laughed, I cried - oh boy did I cry - and at times I thought my heart was going to break with all the feels.
But through it all I had this amazing feeling of hope.
Becca is such an amazing, strong woman. Through everything that has happened, she stands tall, she's a fighter through and through. And now she needs to protect her heart from the one man that could ruin her all over again
"Because I'm Becca Owens - a broken girl.
And he's Josh Warden - the boy who broke me."
Josh and Becca's journey in Coast is not an easy one - but considering their past, it is not surprising and I would have hated it if everything fell right back into place for them. The struggles they endured, the hurdles they had in their way just made their story.
And as much as I love Josh and Becca, the scene stealer who climbed his way into my heart was definitely Tommy. I adored him in Kick Push, but now in Coast - gah! He is so much more! The way he is with "his Becca" would break the ice around the coldest of hearts.
Jay McLean really has nailed it with Coast. I wish I could go back and read it again for the first time, over and over. This is one of my top reads of 2016, and am sure it will stick with me as a top read for a long time.
