Side Effects May Vary by Julie Murphy
3.0

I have a high opinion of Julie Murphy and was excited to start reading her novels. Unfortunately this one didn't really live up to my expectations, but I'm still planning to read more of her. For me, the way the past and present story lines were woven together instead of progressing linearly from past to present gave much of the story a feeling of obviousness, since you felt like you knew the past story line vaguely before reading it, just from the ways it informs the present story line. This only exacerbated the expected level of predictability of the story's main will-they-won't-they romantic arc.
