This is a hard book for me to review because there were times when reading that I loved the book and moments where I hated it. Eilis annoyed me a lot which I think is where the hatred comes in. She is a very contemplative person but seems to just fall into things, especially her relationship with Tony, and doesn't actually speak up if she doesn't want something. I didn't see any love on Eilis's side of the relationship. She just wanted to do what other people saw as right. That being said, I liked the look of old Brooklyn and the small town in Ireland. I think I wanted more out of this book but didn't get it.
