I knew in my gut, Finnley was my someone special. The person I may have by my side until the end.

4.5 stars, probs

I had a bit of a rough stretch with Nicky James books recently, so I’m very happy that this was another winner for me. I’ve wanted to read more from this series from a long time since one of my favorite books ever (Cravings of the Heart) is in it, but these books are heavy and angsty as shit. I also figured that none of the other books could compare to Cravings or Touch of Love. And to be fair, this one didn’t, but it came pretty close! I thought it was really well done, and I can always trust Nicky James to handle mental illness well.

This one wasn’t as sad as the other two imo, because I only cried once, which is shocking. Although there were a couple scenes that truly punched me in the freaking gut. If you’ve read this, you’ll know what scene. Owwie.

Aven joins Iggy and Raven (from Cravings and Touch) as the ultimate book boyfriends. They are so supportive, kind and understanding.

Finnley cracked an eye and glanced around at the setup. A soft smile curved his mouth. “You put all those men in my books to shame. I think I’ll keep you.”

“What happened, baby?” Baby. He really couldn’t help it. The moment I was breaking down or suffering at all, it spilled from his mouth automatically. Maybe I didn’t hate it as much as I let on.

My Finnley. My beautiful, troubled soul. I know you aren’t being serious, but I’ll marry you someday, you’ll see.
