It’s not only recommended to check the trigger warnings before reading this book, it is absolutely necessary.

I am conflicted. On one hand I absolutely adore the book and the way that it’s written. However, the story annoyed the hell out of me. I am not here to judge abusive relationship and why people stay in them, but I constantly found myself annoyed with Lily after each incident.

The writing was fantastic and each character had their own unique backstory and reasoning behind their actions.
Allyssa was a particularly favorite character. She is driven, compassionate, and fueled by her love for the people around her. The first time she interacted with Lily after a incident, I was furious. She pretty much excused her brothers behavior, even though her dear friend felt the consequences. However, the line “As his sister, I wish more than anything that you could find a way to forgive him. But as your best friend, I have to tell you that if you take him back, I will never speak to you again” really did it for me. I love her.
