In My Own Moccasins: A Memoir of Resilience
by Helen Knott
The author does a good job narrating her own story, which chronicles a life of trauma starting at a very young age, and leads to a life that rapidly spins down into alcoholism and drug abuse. I can see why the structure is the way it is, but it makes some of the book feel meandering and repetitive. At around the halfway mark it really hits its stride and becomes far more effective than it initially telegraphs.
