The Story of a Long-Distance Marriage
by siddhesh inamdar
The book shows urban relationships with quite ease. Written so beautifully and being unflinchingly honest, this book explores the marriage of Rohan and Ira. Being married for only fifteen months, they are quite comfortable living in Delhi with their dog Momo. One day, Ira decides to leave for New York to study. And then begins Rohan’s life without her. His friends, Yusuf, Alisha and Tanuj help him live without Ira.
Rohan is smoothly living his life without Ira, when one day, during the call, Ira tells him the real reason of going to New York. Well, I’m not going to disclose the reason. Rohan’s life after that changes drastically, he’s almost on the verge of losing himself to depression, when Yusuf’s Delhi visit changes him.
The author weaves the story naturally, blending in it the values of love, friendship, aloofness, relationship, and time. Ira is the star of the book, as she follows her dream and goes to US. Rohan is also good at his place, as the caring husband, cheerful friend.
Tanuj, Yusuf, Gaurav, Alisha support Rohan in absence of Ira, and are Rohan’s well wishers.
The book is a reality check of new – age marriages, and is written beautifully. ❤
Definitely Recommended to every bibliophile.
