I really dug the science and the premise of multiple realities, but the characters left me cold. The women in the book were more objects of fixation as opposed to fully fledged players, which irked me, along with the general unlikeability of the main character Jason. There was also a little much 'I thought real hard about this problem and EUREKA I fixed it by thinking about it.'
Honestly I think this may make a better movie than a book. The author is obviously influenced by his career in television.
