a slow character build book about life but mostly death. most of the book is set in a tea shop and there is a lot of talk and thoughts instead of actual plot or things happening.
i struggled a little in the middle of the book where i started to feel that the book was being a bit too repetitive and should move on in some way.
it didn’t.
it kept talking about accepting death, not doing so.
and while i think the topic was handled very well, the writhing was good -easy to read and understand but not simplified- i do kind of wish the book would have either been shorter or had a bit more going on.
that could have been my mood. maybe i just wanted something a bit faster paced and less thoughtful and almost mediating in its tone and style as this book is.
and i do want to reread this book when i am more in a slow moving book mood.
as it stands: it’s a good book. the writing and characters were good -as always in books some characters more liked and relatable then others- and the entire idea of the plot was nicely done.
it’s a good book.
just be prepared for a book completely in the topic of death and very slow moving.
if that’s sounds like what your looking for? go for it!
if you want fun and fast moving? keep this until you want something else.
