Far from Neverland
by Rylee Hale
"Though my soul may set in darkness, it will rise in perfect light; I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night."
A retelling that is all about Peter Pan & Hook...
Except there is all the spice and a kind of slow burn that has you wanting more.
Neverland is almost consumed by the shadow. There is only one way to fix Neverland and make it so the sun shines bright once more.
Peter Pan must return to Neverland, and who to bring him back but his one enemy he is always fighting. Captain Hook.
I enjoyed the different take this book has where Pan & Hook are at each others throats but not in animosity, oh no it's in an even better way!
The spicy balances with the slow burn and then the realization comes along with everything else to make this a great retelling.
Wendy Darling, the lost boys, the shadow everything plays into that story we love.
This one is no different, except it has that added factor.
Did I get misty eyed at towards the end? yes I did. It just happend.
When you read "I love you. I love you. I love you!" from a character who thinks he can't love, it strikes that emotional nerve.
Never will I forget his Captain and his Little Star.
