Clockwork Angel
by Cassandra Clare
So this book ticks so many of my book boxes: 1800s Victorian Britain, a gorgeous love triangle (Jem forever has my heart), and witty dialogue.
I love that Tessa loves to read (though perhaps this is a female protagonist stereotype that’s a little overdone) and the book references between her and Will all the way through are much appreciated.
Building tension is done very well in this- one of the books you have to close for a minute and compose yourself but I’ve deducted a star on this reread because on reflection the writing isn’t the best quality. People appear to lack depth and feeling and this time round I wasn’t as lost in the steampunk aesthetic which was a shame.
Four stars for an enjoyable read
