A non-binary love interest!!! This is the first book I’ve ever read with an out non binary person that also has a happy ending! It’s a typical romance “will they/won’t they” story, but I really enjoyed it.
Cringey conversations and moments are to be expected, but overall I think the book does a really good job of approaching queerness and has some important discussions around gender identity and workplace discrimination. We see the MC start to realize that the world is extremely gendered and practice her friend’s new pronouns with coworkers to make work a less hostile place

Summary: Closeted main character has her dream job working in a test kitchen. When her coworker comes out as non-binary, MC realized her workplace is discriminatory and management isn’t going to change that fact, and the MC doesn’t understand why the love interest refuses to fight back against management (until she learns that the love interest is getting top surgery soon and really needs to keep their insurance)

I also LOVED the French chef grandma!!!
