The Song Rising
by Samantha Shannon
Okay, the way this book started I figured it was going to be the slower book in the series that was good but just didn't live up to the rest of the series so far. And it did through the first half, maybe a little more than that for me. I was enjoying it but I wasn't getting that "holy shit I must read more!" feeling.
Then I got to the good stuff which is why this is a 5 star review instead of 4 stars. The ending was just so amazing and I can't believe Samantha Shannon found a way to leave me in amazement once again. Paige Mahoney is just such an incredible character that she's written and it's incredible that she's been able to create someone so badass and yet so relatable and good. She's smart as hell and she's compassionate, but not in a way that has hindered her to this point. It's just amazing. I'm continually amazed by this series and I cannot wait for book 4 to come out. I hope the rest of the series is as good as these first 3 books.
