Shadowshaper by Daniel José Older

3.5 stars. I was in a slumpy reading mood the few weeks I had this book. It was good though. Glad I finished it. The NYC settings was a strong connection as were the accents and general ways of life of the characters. Its home. I felt a slight disconnect with the whole Shadowshaper thing though. I feel like its a mix of not being raised in the type of culture where things like ancestors were strongly venerated (even though I saw it around me and it is in my cultural background) and not personally caring for stories regarding ghosts, spirits or zombies. I loved Sierra and her friends and Robbie. I don't know if I'll read the next book. This seemed to wrap up well enough for me here.
