First of all I'd like to say that from now on I will recommend this book to absolutely everyone I ever meet, this is going on my list of all time favorites.
It took me two/three days to read this book, it should have taken a single afternoon, but you can blame social interactions and whatnot.
While reading Unwind, there were moments when I simply had to put down this book and cry, squeeze my eyes shut, hold my breath for a moment. Not cry out of pain, even though there was some of that in the middle, they were almost tears of amazement, even as I read it, I already knew how much I would love the ending. Does that make sense? The end wasn't predictable, but I already knew I was going to love it so much.
And I did, I did.
Unwind had everything I need in a book, it makes you question your beliefs, it makes you love the fact that you can get to believe and love things the way you do. It's just beautiful, I'm here trying to grasp a way to describe but I can't seem to.
The characters are so very much alive, and between them there was great development.
Character development on Connor was awesome as well, Risa is just already there from the beginning, but that just made me love her even more.
And that freaking scene with the Admiral? The Humphrey/Harlan thing? And how their son in there and they welcome him home.

I just seriously recommend this book to everyone. It has everything, the political conflict, internal and external battles and struggles, love in a non-cheesy way, character development (a little one dimensional, but believable), and it evens works as a stand alone book. Not to mention the fact that the author did try to use true articles and debates to construct the plot, and it has great pace. The book does need that sort of let's ignore the fact that in the future unwinding wouldn't be necessary, thanks to science, and let's ignore some little flaws, like the inaccurate time setting, and the author's sort of lame attempts in that matter. But I didn't even notice I had to ignore those things while reading the book, because I was immersed in it, in such emotional awe. Unwind is kind of gruesome, and reminded me lively how humans can be disgusting, and brave, and our ability to not give up.
Ultimately, this book has flaws, like any book has, but the immersion of it turned me blind to it, making me love the story instantly. SO, I shall recommend it to whoever wants a great YA, Sci-Fi book to entertain themselves greatly.
This was my first time writing a full length review, sorry if it sucks, but Unwind just deserved at least a try.

The way Lev changes, that scene when he realizes that he can believe in God, that was... I was sobbing at that point.Character development on Connor was awesome as well, Risa is just already there from the beginning, but that just made me love her even more.
