A Court of Thorns and Roses
by Sarah J. Maas
"What do you want?" I demanded.
"A moment of peace and quiet," he snapped, rubbing his temples.

A fae kidnapping is one thrilling way to start off a story. This book has encouraged me to start reading fantasy stories again! The fae and magical politics are absorbing and so fascinating. I can see what everyone means, [a:Sarah J. Maas|3433047|Sarah J. Maas|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1582137198p2/3433047.jpg] is such a imaginative and creative writer. I'm completely on board with this fantastical world that she's created! I understand the hype now. It was super fun to read the [b:Red Queen|22328546|Red Queen (Red Queen, #1)|Victoria Aveyard|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1449778912l/22328546._SY75_.jpg|25037051] series and this book back-to-back. I'm totally here for the well-written young adult genre!

After another reread, I'm not able to love this book any less. I forgot how much I enjoyed the first book in this series! I adore human Feyre and the consistency of her character. It's great to go back to the beginning and notice foreshadowing that I didn't expect before.

Now looking back, it's sad to know that Feyre and Lucien's friendship goes downhill. It has such a strong start in this book! I actually loved their relationship more than Feyre and Tamlin's love story. A lot of people claim Lucien as their favorite character but he's at his best in book one. Afterwards he loses that cocky, light-hearted personality. He makes all the wrong choices and seems to not care about Feyre as a friend anymore. I thought that Feyre living with Lucien would bring them closer together, not drive them apart???

Am I the only one who thinks Amarantha is the better villain? The king of Hybern is soooo dull. Now looking back, Amarantha was much more Maleficient-like! She's such an intriguing villain since we know her entire backstory. Hybern is just kinda...there.

Maas never fails to impress me with her gorgeous and flawless worldbuilding. There was never a confused or uninteresting moment for me while reading. Even with a second read, this book was engrossing and I couldn't break between chapters. One last note - Feyre seeing a glimpse of the Night Court at the end of the book but not actually knowing it was the Night Court made me want to cry inside.
