From the moment I heard there was going to be a Rick Riordan Presents book based around Mesopotamian mythology, I knew I would be reading it. The fact that the main character is Muslim also drew me to it as I've never before seen a Muslim protagonist in a children's fantasy novel.
Overall, it was a very fun read, probably my second-favourite of the RRP books I've read to date. It was action filled and fast paced. Some of the scenes with bugs were a bit icky (especially when I was eating!) but there are probably kids for whom that's a bonus! I loved the depiction of the godess Ishtar and how the author illustrated the connections between her two key characteristics, love and war.
I don't know if this will end up being a standalone or a series, but if there is a sequel I will be reading it.
