I was REALLLLLLLYYYYY looking forward to this book. Alice Feeney is one of my favorite authors, and she’ll probably always be an auto-buy for me. But Beautiful Ugly just didn’t hit the mark.

While Feeney’s signature writing style and eerie atmosphere were present, the story itself felt underwhelming. The twists didn’t land as powerfully as I’d hoped, and I found myself waiting for that “wow” moment that never really came.

That said, I’ll always admire Feeney’s ability to craft dark, psychological stories, and this won’t stop me from picking up her next book. Unfortunately, this one just wasn’t a favorite for me.
