When this book is good, it's great: tense, gripping, and nearly unputdownable.
Unfortunately you need to get through about 65% of the book to get there. The slow buildup isn't so noticeable at first because we've just been dumped into the world and there are occasional tidbits to keep the reader amped but there really is no overlooking how the middle of the book seems to drag on much too long.
Conversely the end of the book comes abruptly leaving me feeling like the Mira Grant ran out of time while writing.
After finishing the book, I'm happy to have read it. Sadly, I though about dnfing several times along the way.
