This was such a wonderful sequel! It had an uncharacteristically slow start, but once we interacted with some of the old crew from Middlegame again, it picked up!

I will say, I found it frustrating to listen to Melanie and Harry repeat the same things over and over again. Harry in constant denial about being the Summer Incarnate got extremely exhausting. Thankfully he recovers by the end. And seriously, I think including Dodger & Roger and co. was a smart idea on McGuire's part. She did a great job with allowing the new characters to have their own story and character development instead of letting the old characters take over, but it was still nice and nostalgic. I also went into the book thinking it would have a similar structure as Middlegame (time jumping all over the place and tricky to keep track of time in each chapter), but it makes sense that this was slower-paced and didn't need to tell a story in the same way.

I'm eager to see what McGuire cooks up next, and if she has future plans for the Alchemical Journeys, you can be sure I'll be staying put on this rollercoaster to see what happens next!
