What was both great and not so great about this book was the pace. You were hooked from the first page and didn't want to stop reading, but I think what we gained in excitement we lost in character development. It's hard for me to be invested in Alex's story when I don't know that much about him.
This book is INCREDIBLY graphic. And it gets you because the plot will just be coasting along and then out of nowhere BAM. Blood, gore, rape, bones sticking out of bodies, cannibalism.... just mentally prepare yourself is all I'm gonna say. I can't decide how badly I want to read book 2 knowing a little about the plot of the sequel - if you read the book I think you'll know what I mean.
