Jane Eyre
by Charlotte Brontë
dark
emotional
medium-paced
I'm giving this book high marks for its readability (especially considering its age) and its twisty turny plot that took me all sorts of unexpected ways. I grew to really appreciate Jane (I couldn't like her at the start even though I felt for her) her character development was admirable and the flaws though at times irritating were believable.
I went into this book prejudiced. I was sure wouldn't like it as I remembered vaguely reading it as a child and not liking it then so I was surprised that I did enjoy the bulk of it. The downsides however are literally all the men suck and I absolutely do not buy into the "romance" of this book at all.
