egmamaril 's review for:
The Testaments
by Margaret Atwood
I always enjoy Atwood's sparse writing and storytelling, but this novel felt very hollow, perhaps because it followed three characters, which limited each's development. Reading this in 2020 makes it feel like a surprisingly light read given the ongoing context of political injustice.
Recommended for: Readers who enjoy Atwood's style and are curious about the sequel to A Handmaid's Tale.
Not recommended to: Readers who feel strongly that race should be a prominent feature of dystopian literature.
