The Drowning Girl by Caitlín R. Kiernan
3.0

This is not a bad book, it is just not a book for me. There are always exceptions, but I generally do not like unreliable narrators and open endings. Kiernan did an amazing job with both, but at the end (despite my small pleasure at the last page of the book being dated my 21st birthday) I found myself so frustrated that I didn't know what events were real and what were not, and that kind of thing makes me crazy. The end pages had so many small moments that felt like they should have been revelations but weren't, and that was extremely frustrating.

The writing is beautiful. Imp is so well-crafted. I can't say the same for the supporting characters, but it didn't feel like a lack, exactly. It's a good book, if it's in your wheelhouse.
