Truly Madly Guilty by Liane Moriarty
5.0

Moriarty did it again. Oh, how I love her writing!

There are two main things that are so great about her books. I’ve read [b:The Husband's Secret|17802724|The Husband's Secret|Liane Moriarty|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1460577225s/17802724.jpg|23986788] and [b:Big Little Lies|19486412|Big Little Lies|Liane Moriarty|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1492239430s/19486412.jpg|27570886] before, and those have the same pattern. Like my friend and colleague Evelyn said, I hope this book is not becoming a formula, but I have to admit: I love her formula. This is amazingly good.

Very soon, you learn that there has been a barbecue where something bad has happened, that affected everyone there. You just don’t know what exactly happened. You read towards this, and this is a good suspense.

While reading towards the bad thing that happened, you get to know the characters. Really well. Maybe even better than they know themselves. You learn that they are real people with layers and baggage and everything that distinguish real people from book characters, usually. Not in this book (and her previous ones).

Moriarty’s characters are as real as people can get, because you get a look inside the private life people often do not share. People love to keep up the good vibes, not show people how they really feel or what they really think. Moriarty is a master in showing those different sides of people.

And I just love the plot. THIS IS SO GOOD. Just go and read this book. I mean it.
