Faithful Place by Tana French
5.0

I have loved the three books by Tana French that I have listened to. I recently re-read In the Woods in preparation for a book discussion and I really missed the Irish narrative voice. Not that I didn't still enjoy the book, but something was missing for me in the experience of just reading. The atmosphere and the emotion weren't as apparent to me in the act of reading the book.

However, I listened to most of this book, which tells Frank Mackey's back story which sort of explains why he is such a taciturn and hard-drinking man.

The suitcase found in an abandoned house in his old neighborhood turns out to be that of Rosie Daly, the girl he had planned to run away to England with twenty-some years earlier. When she didn't show up on the night they planned to leave, he had assumed for his entire life that she had ditched him and was living her own life in England.

Now Frances Mackey has to return to his miserable old neighborhood and his bitter family to help figure out what had really happened to his lovely Rosey.
