Normally I love Elizabeth Wein’s books but this one just didn’t do it for me.
I found the characters to be extremely immature for their ages. You had two 16 year olds acting and talking like they were 10ish and they acted the same way throughout the whole book with very little development. The mom was even worse, she never thought through anything she did and with two kids in tow she very rarely acted in their best interest.
All of that took away from the overall storyline as well which sucked because it could have been really good.
