This series is one of the most terrifying series I’ve ever read. I don’t know if it’s because this one takes place in an urban setting, but it freaked me out waaayyyy more than the first book. It also hit a little too close to home because of all the climate change we are experiencing, and it felt a little too plausible for comfort. I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through reading this. I flew through this in a few hours because I needed to know what happened.

Let’s get one thing straight: if I were ever in a situation like Alex faces I probably wouldn’t survive. The characters in this series are a lot tougher than I could ever hope to be.

This book takes place at the same time as the first, just in a different setting. Alex had way different obstacles, being in a city, than Miranda did in a small town. By the time I was done, I was thinking, “I need to put a disaster kit together in case this happens.”

As soon as I finished this book, I immediately went on amazon and ordered the rest of the series. It was that good.
