Luminiferos is a very promising debut for Yana Metro. The writing is very whimsical and features a lot of literary devices. The beginning is very fast so you get into the story quickly. The world-building is implemented through the main character learning about the world with the reader. The story explains the problems with humanity in a fantastical way.

In the first half of the book the character is very naive and trusting. There is a focus on emotions and believing in oneself. This novel also features the chosen one trope but I enjoyed it in this context. The main problem I had with the story was that the attraction to the love interest felt a little rushed but I still like their relationship for the most part.

Overall, I think this is a enjoyable read and the ending sets up a fun, quest based series!
