Whiskey Beach
by Nora Roberts
Nora Robert’s books have a formula and you pretty much know what is going to happen. A rich but damaged guy will fall in love with a quirky and interesting woman. And maybe there will be some murder and intrigue along the way. That does not stop these books from being an entertaining break to your day.
Eli Landon did not murder his wife, or at least the prosecuting attorney never had enough evidence to take the case to court. But after a year and a half battle with the local police, the media, and strangers, it is time to escape from the spot light and pull his life back together. The family mansion on a windswept beach called Bluff House is the perfect place to rest and recuperate. His grandmother needs someone to watch over the house while she recovers from a terrible fall, but how can she expect him to get any writing done when she has tasked the neighbor with making sure he eats, the house gets clean, and that he does not become a hermit. Abra Walsh is just as quirky as her name. She has multiple small businesses which include Yoga instructor, house cleaner, cook, and errand lady. And she is going to make sure Eli re-involves himself in the world around him. There is a intrigue, after all if, Eli didn’t kill his wife, then who did? Plus, with the old historic mansion, a missing pirate treasure, and a town full people who are in everyone’s business, how can you not come out of your shell and begin life over again.
