This is a hard book to review because I just don't have any strong feelings about it. It's fine. The characters are decent with some interesting dynamics between them, the world building and magic system are unique, and it's fast paced and easy to read. I just didn't feel any real emotional connection. I wasn't hooked or invested in the events, and I know I won't read the sequel.

I know some people love this book and honestly I can see why they would. For whatever reason it just didn't work for me.
