The Amber Spyglass
by Philip Pullman
A very sad but amazing conclusion for this series. When I finished reading this it felt like I was being ripped away from my childhood. My best-friend, Lyra and Will? In love with each other? That was a nasty shock for me, since mind you, I was a kid when I read this and I didn't expect to see any romance in this book at all (not about Lyra and Will, anyway). But I quickly got over it and I was filled with despair because Lyra and Will couldn't see each other anymore and they had to settle with remembering each other by going to some bench in some park, I mean, really??? That was awful.
His Dark Materials, despite being a book about children, has some really complicated science and religion theme in the story and in the third instalment it got pretty crazy and a bit confusing (especially when Lyra visited the world of the dead or when Marisa met the angel and Lyra and Will met God or every chapters about Mary Malone, really). I have to say that when I first read it some part didn't register. I re-read this book just recently (July, this year) and I just realised and understood some part I didn't when I read it years ago. I might give this book another go soon, I kind of miss Lyra and Will.
