Beautiful Darkness
by Kami Garcia, Margaret Stohl
Beautiful Darkness was a book that I was really looking forward to but I felt a bit let down.
One thing that I really liked was the interesting story line of the second book in this series. It was interesting to discover secrets right along with Ethan. I didn't really like the addition of the new characters very much. John Breed seemed like a bad addition, there to create a love triangle that I'm pretty sure everyone would be against considering the book is written from Ethan's POV. I liked Liv in the beginning, but towards the end I felt like she was just meddling into a situation where she was unneeded. Also, considering that this series focused loosely on the Caster world, but more on Lena's life as a Caster, I felt like there could have been more scenes including her.
My favorite character would have to have been Ridley. I didn't like her at ALL in the first book. But I really liked her character in this one because you get to see the more pre-claiming side of her. Especially towards the end you see a certain vulnerability about her that really makes you like her much more.
Overall, I enjoyed reading this one. The plot was the best part about the book, and the imagery once again was fantastic!
