Fight Club
by Chuck Palahniuk
I can't believe they're about to cut off his balls and they still called him sir and they were like "nothing personal, nice to finally meet you, sir" Oh man, that cracked me up real good.
I watched the movie before I read the book so when I read this I already know about the split personality thing but it was still a mind fuck. I don't remember the main character has name? Like he's just that guy who has another personality named Tyler Durden and in a way he doesn't exist before Tyler because his life was so generic and boring. I get that this book is about some bored guy with a perfect life and daily job and he's just so tired of the routine that one day he invented Tyler without even realising it and then Tyler wrecked his life. Or more accurately, he wrecked his own life. The amount of soap making and bombs 101 in this book is like a subtle tutorial. Tyler is like the complete opposite of the main character who was a nice person but ever since he met Tyler he just became this fuck-everything kind of guy. Tyler invented the fight club, then the project mayhem committee and other committees and they basically do some really fucked up terrorist-y stuff and beat up each other for fun. This book kinda puts stuff into perspective and it makes you think how dangerous bored guys are and they are fucking crazy and they're literally the worst.
And you know how the fight club member is all men and the project mayhem member is all men and literally there's only one female character in this book and she doesn't even show up that much even though she's this really interesting complex character and it so frustrating because I need more Marla in my life.
4/5 stars because despite of its crazy men doing crazy shit frenzy it was actually pretty good.
