This was beautiful and haunting and horrible. Nahr is one of the most complex female characters I have ever met in literature. I loved all the ways the story came together, starting with her solitary confinement, through the journey that led to her imprisonment and finally to her release. The resilience that all the women throughout generations is explored and it’s a haunting account of the oppression that Palestinians and specifically Palestinian women faced under the hands of the Israelis.
