This was a pretty disappointing finale to a series that I’ve really been enjoying. I had a lot of issues with this book. I didn’t like where any of the character progression goes…..it felt like all of the characters were simplified and put into categories in order to create conflict. The second book had such a great cliffhanger, only for nothing to really happen plot wise in this one. And in the end, the way the conflict ended was a bit…..dull and went against everything else we learned about the aliens.
There’s a lot of social commentary in this one, and seeing what year this was published, it was probably written in 2016, which makes sense. I did liked what the author had to say, but it kind of felt like the author was bending the plot in order to add the commentary, rather than the commentary inhancing the plot.
I’m still glad that I read this series as I really enjoyed the first two books, but I’m definitely pretty disappointed in this last novel.
