This was another book I wouldn't have read were it not for a reading challenge! Sci-fi scares me a bit, but BookRiot wanted me to read a fantasy or sci fi novella under 120 pages, so read one I did! And it turned out that novella size is a VERY good size for someone like me with an aversion to info-dump-heavy science fiction. Okorafor manages to build this world in under 100 pages, fleshing out Binti, introducing the jellyfish-like attackers, decrying the racism and colonial mindset of academia and museums... all in 96 pages! I never felt overwhelmed, only engaged in the story. Looking forward to continuing the trilogy, hopefully in 2021!
