The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson
3.0
I expected more from this book. After reading the description for this book I thought it was going to be a lot more exciting. It almost felt as if two different books tried to merge and it just wasn't working. That said I didn't hate it, I was captivated by the love story as I was always reading on to figure out who was the assassin and who was the prince just waiting to be mind blown when it was finally revealed. But then the reveal happened and it was just non-nonchalantly thrown on the page like we didn't just spend 300 pages waiting for it. One thing I did very much enjoy in the beginning was the POV change between characters and I normally do not like that but in this setting it was very well done and fit the story nicely. I felt as though the story almost didn't need to be as long as it was. It felt like it went really fast at first and then SUPER slow and then fast for a couple chapters and than slow again until the end. I can equally see why people like it and why some don't. I gave it three starts because there was quite a bit I did like in this book but I have no intentions of re-reading or reading the sequel.
