4.5 rounded up. This book was such a rollercoaster. I enjoyed Ember in the Ashes, but I have to admit I like this a lot more. The opposing voices of Laia, Elias and Helene had me on the edge of my seat at all times. How can three different people all be self-righteous, heroic, infuriating, pitiful, and strong beyond belief all at the same time?!
