Murder With Peacocks
by Donna Andrews
This was... fine. I don’t know. I guess I like a little more edge to my mysteries. But I did laugh a few times (three, to be precise) and it wasn’t ... terrible to read. The mystery part was fine.
I had a pretty significant problem with the romantic subplot, just in that the romantic interest keeps trying to let the MC know of his interest in her and keeps getting interrupted. Like to a ridiculous degree. And not once does the MC catch on that the romantic interest was trying to say something before he was interrupted. Not once does she say, “So what were you going to say?” The romantic lead takes it much better than I am because I am extremely frustrated.
And now I have this weird feeling that I’ve read a set of mysteries that were also comical in nature but I can’t for the life of me remember anything else about them.
