The Flash Vol. 9: Reckoning of the Forces
by Joshua Williamson
Oof this was probably the most painful of Williamson’s Flash to read. I’ve seen some people online justify Barry acting out of character as Grodd’s influence creeping into his mind, but 1) I’d don’t think there was anything in the text supporting that idea and 2) Grodd’s been defeated and Barry is *STILL* an asshole.
We’re introduced to 2 of the new Cosmic Forces and their kinda cool. Strength Force is the real standout, giving people super muscles and control over gravity while Sage just gives basic mind powers. Both feature The Rogues and Williamson demonstrates again that he knows how to write these characters better than Barry, with a moment towards the end showing how strong the bond is between Heatwave and Captain Cold and the good that’s come from the two of them supporting each other. That being said I don’t think that one moment is worth a $15 purchase. Skip this one and go straight to Force Quest.
