Modelland by Tyra Banks
1.0

I'm not sure what possessed me to pick up this book in the first place, but whatever it was, I am going to hunt it down, and kill it with fire.

This book is atrocious. That's really saying something, coming from someone who actually didn't mind the Twilight series. Tyra Banks tried WAY too hard to make a fantastical fantasy-world, and it shows in her terribly pathetic names of places and characters.

After the first chapter, I couldn't bear to read on - but I've never put down a book in my life, so I continued.

Banks has NO idea who her target audience is. With cutesy "clever" (gag) names for cities (such as the one that produces candles called Canne Del Abra), it seems like it's a story designed for small children... until she mentions characters cutting their wrists open with sharp rocks and devotes a large portion of a chapter describing the model girls having their periods sync up overnight and being rewarded in Modelland by never having them again. Are. You. Serious.

I've read 40% of the book and my brain is screaming at me with every word to PLEASE STOP THE MADNESS. But I keep pressing on. Why? Maybe I'm just sadistic. But I'm really trying to give this book a chance... which, given the first almost-half of the book, is a pretty stupid idea. Yet, I continue.

All I can say is, I could not be more thankful I did not spend a penny on this book. It's not worth a penny and it's not even worth a full single start rating. Hallelujah for downloading free books online.

UPDATE! I finished this book. Finally. I was about 60% into the book when anything actually started happening. It's still terrible, the writing is still bad, the who-is-this-book-written-for? complex still confuses the shit out of me.... but it's done. Thank god.
