Hang the Moon
by Alexandria Bellefleur
I loved the first book and borrowed this one right away afterwards and somehow loved it even more! Darcy's brother Brenden created and runs One True Pairing (OTP), a dating app for people trying to find their perfect forever person, but struggles to find his own match. When Darcy's best friend comes to town unexpectedly to visit, who also happened to be Brenden's young adult crush he hasn't seen in 8 years, he finds out that he enjoys Annie's company now too. They spend time together while Darcy is away and Annie realizes that the best friend's little brother not only grew up to be a hottie, but also someone who makes her laugh and feel at home. One little problem: she is supposed to be moving to London after this vacation. Looking forward to the 3rd book about their friend and Elle's business partner Margot when it is released next year.
Reread: Gah, I love this story! He falls first but still mutual pining (oh the pining!), dual POV, rom-com inspired dates, queer rep, and the found family friend group we started to get to know in book one. What's not to love? So swoony and lovely, and I may have wiped a tear or two. Possibly my fave of the trilogy but I need to reread book 3 again to call it.
Reread 2025: I love this book! It makes me laugh and swoon, and I teared up at one point too. I always have a hard time picking my fave in this series but it's between this one and the third. I love the overall queer rep in this series and this book is no exception even though it often gets ignored; however, it's brief, two blink and you miss it moments, but still important to note that even in a straight passing romance, Annie is bi. I love the found family aspect of the friend group and the way they embrace Annie and welcome her into the fold. Brendon is your typical romantic, the creator of a dating app always trying to find people their happy endings but not successful for himself until Annie comes to town and he falls for her (he had a crush on her when they were younger too but he was her best friends younger brother so that's always weird). I appreciated the head vs heart struggle she ends up in, having a plan to move far away for a job she doesn't like and thinking it's too soon to change that plan. Also, love the romcom recreation dates!
