This book was beautifully written and provides a different perspective on our relationship to the world. I loved learning about her Indigenous culture and how it impacts the way the author views and lives in the world. A lot to be learned and considered.
Right away the story of the Skywoman Falling and how that story is so different than the Christian Creation story many of us grew up learning, struck a chord. “One woman is our ancestral gardener, a cocreator of the good green world that would be the home of her descendants. The other was an exile, just passing through an alien world on a rough road to her real home in heaven.”
Then there were several points where the topic tied into Motherhood and resonated with me. “It is the fundamental unfairness of parenthood that if we do our jobs well, the deepest bond we are given will walk out the door with a wave over the shoulder.”
There are many more quotes and snippets I loved and will come back to again and again as I try to become a better steward for my home, Mother Earth.
